Walk in your authority

Have you ever felt defeated in life, powerless against a situation, or overwhelmed without hope? The truth is we’ve all felt that way at some point, but we don’t don’t have to accept these feelings as normal anymore. We can make a change — In 2021, it’s time to walk in authority.

So, how can we conquer these feelings?

Well, it’s all about having the right mindset and knowing your true identity in Christ. The best thing about being saved is that we get a new life and a new nature. But the conflict comes in when the enemy tries to tell us that nothing has changed. We have to remember that he is a liar, who is out to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10).

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (NLT) says, “ We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.”

So, these feelings of self-doubt may come and go but you have the power to reject those thoughts — you were given the victory! Sometimes we get so caught up in our everyday routine and allow frustrations to consume us. But if we stay present from moment to moment, we’ll find that it’s easier to remain grounded in love, peace, and joy. And, we’ll realize what’s really important and what deserves our emotion.

Living by faith means you trust that no matter what happens in life, God is with you and things will work out. That’s what gives us the confidence to walk in authority. It’s not our own, we’re walking in His authority. We are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ.

We’ve got to renew our minds in real time!

Sometimes we assume that if we’re saved long enough that our thoughts and behaviors will just change. But that’s not true at all! When you’re having a bad day and want to lash out, you have to find a scripture on joy and peace and read it to yourself. If you’re feeling weak, you need to read scriptures on strength and power. Then over time those scriptures will pop up in your mind whenever you’re in a similar situation.

Don’t over spiritualize the process of growth and maturity. Godliness does take time, but it’s also practical. All we’re doing is creating new habits and attitudes based on the wisdom of God found in the bible. The struggle is to be willing, in the moment, and go to the word. And, here’s a tip: As you do, it get’s easier each time! So, let’s abide in Jesus.

John 15:5-7 says, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.  If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”

When obstacles come your way, remember to walk in authority with the strength and the confidence given to us through Christ.
